Event Organiser's Insurance

Organiser

Public Liability and Products Insurance cover to run your Homeschooling Activities

Included as part of your HEA membership

This insurance is designed to cover the volunteer parent/guardian who organises group events for home educating families.

The organiser(s) must be a current HEA member and attend the event.

The organiser(s) must be acting in a volunteer capacity.

The HEA recommends you request access to this public liability insurance whenever you organise a group homeschooling event. Do this by registering your event with the link button below. Responsibility to understand the cover and exclusions falls to the organiser of the event.

The cover is ideal when you are hiring a meeting space, as many venues require public liability insurance.

Please note HEA Events Liability insurance only covers event organisers from personal liability and does not cover paid professionals or attendees.

 

Parents should be advised that they retain full responsibility for the safety of their children. 

HEA insurance excludes pandemic. Therefore, keep updated with any changes regarding your state/region's social distancing rules.

Voluntary Workers Insurance

Product Disclosure Statement and Policy Wording

Limit of Liability: Up to $300,000

1. Make sure you are logged into this website as a Member.

2. Register your Function a minimum of 2-3 weeks before the activity. Some events will take longer to process if extra permission from the insurer is needed. eg: over 50 children; "yellow" waiver activities.

3. Download your Organsier Kit (found in the 'Register your Function' portal)

 

4. After you Register your Function, our Insurance Coordinator will contact you with the insurance certificate or any necessary follow-up and questions.

Please allow 5 days before emailing insurance@hea.edu.au

Student Work Experience Insurance

Included as part of your HEA membership

This insurance is designed to provide personal accident cover for a home educated student undertaking volunteer work experience placement.  The amount of cover is limited.

The parent/guardian must be a current HEA member. And the student must be working in a voluntary capacity.

Public liability is not part of the HEA work experience insurance; the employer should have their own P&L cover in place. Queensland and Tasmanian registered homeschoolers can get government work experience insurance through the Department of Education (and does include public liability insurance). 

Responsibility to understand the cover and exclusions falls to the parent/guardian. Please read through the Work Experience Kit and email insurance@hea.edu.au if you have any questions.

Whilst actually engaged in official unpaid voluntary activities or engaged in necessary direct travel between your normal place of residence or employment place your voluntary activities.

This insurance is designed to provide personal accident cover for HEA Volunteers while they work or travel for the HEA.
