What Did Charlotte Mason Mean by Masterly Inactivity?

 Masterly inactivity is when a parent steps back and allows the child the freedom to play within boundaries. The concept is often difficult for a parent to understand or balance. A parent who is nervous or stressed throughout the school day will pass along those traits to her children.
