The OBoS have published a Q&A document with their replies to feedback on the current Information Pack (IP). The HEA does not accept the Q&A as a valid solution to the problem moreover it implies there was consultation for the IP and there was none.  This IP and the Approved Persons manuals represent the implementation of signifanctly different practices in spite of OBoS' insistence that nothing has changed. Please read it with our briefing document* written by Karleen Gribble. Our response has been to send a letter to the minister with the briefing document to assist his office to understand the problems home educators are facing in NSW.  There are now a number of things you can do;

  1. Write to your MP explaining how you believe this pack will negatively affect your family. Use the above mentioned briefing document and the letter writing kit developed by Karleen for inspiration. If you are concerned for your privacy, write a group letter or have others write on your behalf.   (*Please respect the research and authorship which went into this document and keep any details you use accurate.)
  2. Organise a delegation of people in your electorate to visit your MP. Go here to find your district and current MP  If you would like to find people in your electorate to work with, send us an email with your contact details and we will try to put you in touch with others who contact us.
  3. And finally: Pull Together! Check if fellow HEA members have recieved their updates and ask them to check their settings and spam folders if they are failing to recieve our emails. Forward this email and tell your home schooling friends how the HEA are advocating on their behalf and encourage them to join. The more people we have registered with the HEA - the more say we all have in the process.

Hope you are all well and we look forward to seeing you at the Members' Conference in October.
