Dr Glenda Jackson

Glenda Jackson is an educational consultant with Australian Home Education Advisory Service (AHEAS) specialising in Australian Home Education practices and transition movements between home and schools. Her qualifications include successfully home educating four children and completing a PhD at Monash University on Australian Home Education. This research project explored the homeschooling experiences of students, parents and of educators when students moved between home and school. Since then she has been involved in teacher education programs at a couple of universities reviewing current educational theories and assessing teacher practices. Her broad and deep educational experiences provide a rich and informed basis for her consultancy services.

Australian Home Education Advisory Service (AHEAS) A professional consultancy business AHEAS provides support to home education families by tailoring learning programs to suit specific family needs. AHEAS also provides support and assistance to students transitioning to and from school. AHEAS Director Glenda Jackson brings extensive insights from research into Australian home education practices in addition to her personal practical experience as a successful home educating parent. Based in Melbourne, this national business responds to calls from within the Australian media and community for greater support of home educating families. Australian research consistently shows home education as an important option for families with a number of principles that ensure its success. It is the aim of AHEAS to help parents identify how to best implement these principles in their homes. Future plans include provision for peer interaction and learning, access to subject specialists, family access to appropriate professional support services and ongoing research into home education.
