HEA Public Liability Insurance Requirements
HEA provides Public Liability to HEA members who organise activity days.
Before continuing with an application , please look at the “Types of Activities Covered” document on the insurance page.
-
HEA Members can access this insurance for their event and it covers the organiser and any other HEA members in attendance who participate in the activity.
-
It is recommended that there be another HEA member in your group who can step into the organising role, in the event that the main organiser cannot be present, to keep insurance cover valid.
-
Any volunteer, including the organising HEA member, is required to have a Working With Children Check (WWCC) approval through their state body and list them where they have been asked for. See insurance page for links to relevant bodies.
-
Professionals presenting at your event need to have their own Public Indemnity Insurance and disclose their policy and hold a current WWCC.
-
Volunteers presenting from your group need to have a WWCC.
-
Every application for an activity day (one off or weekly) is to be accompanied by a risk assessment form. No cover is allowed to be given unless there is a completed risk assessment form that meets the requirements of the insurer. This is found in the Insurance Kit.
-
Every week, there is to be a signed attendance register that has listed participating families who have agreed to your conditions of participation. No signature, no participation.
-
Parents are to be in attendance at all events and are responsible for their own children’s behaviour.
More detailed information is available on Insurance Page and the Event Insurance Kit that is found on the application form.
