In Nymboida, on the 7th of November, we had an anniversary of the bushfire. I wrote this poem about the anniversary, and the fact that we all came together.

Community

By Ada Hitchins Sage, 13.

Seeing the faces of people, Who have lost all or some, But are there when others need them most. Knowing, realising, understanding, That even though you lost something, There are still reasons to laugh, And smile, and joke, and sing. Still reasons to join together, And remember, that community, No matter what it has gone through, Can still rejoice. They can rejoice that when it is dark, There is someone to turn on the light. They can rejoice that when they are lost, There is someone to show them the way.

They can rejoice, That no matter how sad and broken they are, They still feel like dancing.
