QLD TAFE CERT II in Health Support Services

TAFE Queensland and Metro South Hospital and Health Service are excited to offer selected Year 11 students the opportunity to study a Certificate II in Health Support Services (HLT23215) while still in high school. The program provides an opportunity to gain skills in a variety of health care operations, including food services assistant, wards-person (transporting patients), and environmental services officer (housekeeping).

The program is being delivered at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Redlands Hospital, and QEII Hospital from July 2023 to June 2024.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

For this course, students must:

  • be over the age of 16 at course commencement

  • be completing Year 11 in 2023 at a participating high school. In addition, the duration of your TAFE at School course cannot be longer than your remaining high school studies

  • provide proof of vaccinations, including three COVID-19 vaccinations. This is a requirement for all staff and students on-site at the hospital and must be provided prior to enrolment

  • have a desire to work in a health care or hospital environment

  • attend the information session arranged by the educator

  • commitment to attendance and participation in the course

  • complete a Pathways application

  • attend Orientation on-site at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (compulsory)

Limited places are available at each location – applying early is recommended to avoid disappointment.
